Rick Perry vs. 2011 Executions

Here’s a video I produced back in November for Off the Wall, the National Gallery in DC’s tribute to Andy Warhol. Off the heels of Troy Davis’ execution, my hope is to bring a jarring showcase of faces and names for our nation’s capital punishment policy.

In 2011, 43 executions were carried out, with 1/3 of them occurring in Texas. Hopefully Texas Governor Rick Perry’s exit from the presidential race demonstrates that popularity for archaic policies like the death penalty are waning.
